Landscape Design and Installation 2012
We began designing this garden in spring 2012 with the installation work carried out during the summer of that year. The property has been owned by the family for many years and has special meaning for the current family members who jointly own the house. The distinctive architectural style played a large part in setting the style for the landscaping, in particular the screening to the road. The house enjoys stunning views across the lake as well as its own beach. It is set on a steep hillside, part of which is within native riparian area, and maintaining the natural look with safe access to the beach was a high priority.
A small area of lawn is situated off the lower deck but the remaining landscaping comprises deer resistant shrubs and perennials chosen for their colour and year round appeal. Screening of an adjacent property is achieved with the use of columnar oaks. The garden continues to evolve as the owner adds plants to the hillside and manages the beds herself.
