For fabulous rich colour and wonderfully textured foliage Heuchera ‘Obsidian’ is a great choice for a small perennial.  Its colour does not fade even in full sun locations.  Mass planted in a bed these would make a stunning display.  Consider contrasting them with a lime green colour for extra wow factor! They also make great container plants.
