The Nature Trust of BC is a leading non-profit land conservation organization. A leader in
protecting BC’s natural diversity of plants and animals, The Nature Trust acquires and conserves
critical habitats and other areas of ecological significance with a focus on the Okanagan. Along
with our partners, The Nature Trust has invested more than $71 million to secure over 450
parcels of land totaling 61,000 hectares (150,000 acres) throughout British Columbia.
Net proceeds from this event will help The Nature Trust acquire a significant 2,000 acre grassland
property at Twin Lakes. Grasslands are one of Canada’s most endangered ecosystems. Almost
40% of the Okanagan’s grasslands have disappeared. This project is a top priority for the South
Okanagan Similkameen Conservation Program- a partnership of over 50 conservation
organizations. Twin Lakes will double the conservation holdings of The Nature Trust in this area.
