This week’s Plant of the Week is Miscanthus sinensis ‘Goliath’ (Giant Maiden Grass).  Each year at this time, we can’t help but to be impressed by the beautiful fall colour and spectacular plumes.  This clumping grass is sometimes confused with Miscanthus sinensis giganteus but definitely outperforms this variety.  Typical of all large grasses, it benefits from spring mulching with rich compost and any extra nutrients it can get.  Also remember when planting all grasses do not plant too deep.
