Hostas are a beautiful plant for the shade garden. Valued primarily for their foliage interest, they do also bloom in the summer although the flowers pale in comparison to the wonderful leaf colours and textures.

They are an extremely tough plant, surprisingly drought tolerant, and very well behaved in that they form beautiful clumps and do not spread. We have found some varieties to be quite deer tolerant too. They are a perennial so will die back down for the winter, but who cares when they look this good now!
